The leaves of this plant are used to make a tea, called “Loubuma”, known in ancient China. It is a small herbaceous shrub that is surprisingly resistant to drought and stress (sand-wind-salt). It is traditionally used for its ability to lower arterial hypertension caused by kidney problems, it has cardiovascular benefits and is traditionally used to promote longevity and treat nephritis and neurasthenia. But more recently it has been associated with reducing blood pressure. The natural fibre derived from this shrub is used blended with cotton in the textile industry.
