Banana

Biodegradable, eco-friendly, anti-bacterial fibre. After the bananas are picked, the tree trunk is cut to make a new one grow together with a new bunch of bananas. The heart of the plant is underground and it divides into several trunks. Each one produces fruit only once. The banana tree trunk is made up of layers with different hardness, colour and malleability. These layers are separated by hand and cut into strips of fibre,  which are then washed in chlorate water and dried in the sun, after which they are ready to be processed. The inner layers are used to make light, soft, fine cloths, suitable for the production of clothing and underwear.
